Day 1

So, at 4am I was still looking for some sleep - was it the excitement? Yeah let’s go with that

After a bath it was time to fill all the suitcases with enough wires, chargers and plugs to be entirely suspicious travelling abroad

Good job America couldn’t care less about boarder controls👀

Then, at 11:20 precisely we could do an online check in and despite the initial panic that their website would only allow me to check in myself, the app let me do it for everyone else

Phew

We then thought about lunch - what would kieren like……oh yes, the Acorn

We all had jacket potatoes and as we left I thought we wouldn’t be back for at least 10 days - I hoped they could cope without us…..

Joss was unbelievable in how she managed to fit the whole house into the car and also volunteered to drive

A double win for me

A triple win actually as Kieren decided he didn’t trust Joss to get us to the hotel so had the journey on his own phone so he could confirm she was going the right way

He was especially pleased that we stopped at the services where we saw him in his natural environment - WH Smith’s

A perfect drive got us to the Thistle Hotel where we took 20 minutes to settle ourselves, before we went to the bar

This, however, was before I’d realised Kieren had auditioned for some TV work:

We needed a drink so Hattie went for her usual cider, Kieren his Diet Coke whilst we went for the most expensive bottle of wine we’ve had in a long time - the phrase “got you over a barrel” comes to mind, although in THEIR  defence, they didn’t make us drink 3 of them….

The third was over a meal, so that’s ok - I had a steak, the girls a salmon risotto and K a burger - very nice

Joss then bought the most expensive water and treats known to man ( bloody hell) before we retired for the night

Up early tomorrow for the flight - bring it on!!
