Days 9 and 10

Image
So here we are, the final Day in New York We met up at 9 and had one last breakfast at the Tick Tock Diner and I reverted back to the egg white omelette  Lovely We then did some last minute shopping where the whole family ganged up against me and forced me to buy a hoodie #firstworldproblems We still had a lot of time to kill so where on earth could we go? You guessed it As well as beer, though, there’s always time for cake As we were finishing up our chirpy taxi driver messaged to say he was here and so we went off to meet him He took one look at us and said he couldn’t take all the luggage and showed be his e-receipt from Elite Cabs which said just 4 suitcases I countered this with my e-ticket from Hoppa (with whom I booked) which clearly said 4 suitcases and 4 carry-ons  He said I had to take it up with Hoppa and I said it was between Elite and Hoppa - not me He then said he’d contact Hoppa and showed me the return message which said we as the customers would have to find a...

Day 8

Today was our last full day in New York and was meant to be a quiet, relaxing day although looking at my watch, I can see I did nearly 16k steps so not as quiet as I’d believed After breakfast where Kieren and I stuck to croissants whilst the ladies went for waffles and pancakes, we set off to the Rockefeller Centre to visit the observation deck We had to exchange our flexi tickets for “real” tickets which were timed at 13:10 so we had almost an hour and a half to kill - oh well if we must go to the Irish Bar… Kieren has taken quite a shine to it but admitted he still thought the Acorn was the best, closely followed by the Red Lion…. Once the time was reached we quickly got into the building and the views were great On the way up they showed a film on the ceiling of the lift explaining all about the building and Kieren LOVED that After there we went to the baseball shop where I thought I was being frivolous buying a t-shirt only to be trumped by Joss being super generous and buying me ...

Day 7

This clocks went forward in New York last night so I did feel a bit cheated when my alarm went off at 8 - I want that extra hour back!! We started the day with a typical New York breakfast - croissants!! To be fair all this heavy food was starting to overwhelm me so a lighter brekkie suited me fine We set off afterwards to visit the Brooklyn Bridge This is the second year in a row we’ve been abroad for cherry blossom season It was a loooong walk, broken up by just one coffee stop opposite a girl who was doing multiple TikTok videos of herself doing exercises - oh to be young again The walk was interesting though with all the various types of buildings, including one very famous movie building Finally we arrived and it was very impressive although after such a long walk we felt no desire to go all the way over it In fact, once we’d taken some pictures Kieren, being aware of the itinerary for the day, immediately said “and where’s Chinatown? “ Lucky for us all, it was just 15 minutes awa...
